Will burn peasants for food
It’s official now: there will be no more attunement necessary to get into Onyxia’s Lair. At first I thought “Yes! Easy gold at level 80″, but then something inexplicable happened: I felt sorry for the little whelp. It used to be that you had to work your ass off to get into Onyxia’s Lair. That goddamn quest line was a pain in the ass to do, mainly because it wasn’t always easy to get a group of 5 that wanted to wander around Blackrock escorting Marshal Windsor around like he owned the friggin’ place (could you pick up the pace? We have a dragon to kill). Not to mention the wipes, the respawns, getting it done on alts, killing miners in BRD that were happily mining until you set them ablaze looking in their pockets for a crumpled up piece of paper. I’m happy to not have to go through that again.
With the removal of the attunement, and the new level cap at 80, Onyxia and all the other old-world bosses are going to feel quite lonely. Sure, a few people looking to pad their Achievement List might still poke their nose in there and see if they can solo the old bird, but she’s pretty much going to be curled up in a ball with nobody to talk to. The same goes for the bosses in Molten Core and Blackrock Spire. All this work these bosses do to get to the top, spewing about how they’ll be running Azeroth, only to be toppled by a small group of level 80s that can kill them by pretty much spitting on them.
Maybe Blizzard should change the voiceovers on these bosses. Ragnaros can say “What? You’ve toppled Illidan? Well, go easy on me. Better yet, have these things and leave me be. I have this ring. One of you take it and go. Here’s some gold too”. Or Onyxia can just cower in a corner, showering players with gold and loot while waving her paw at the players to leave her alone.
I also though of another issue and that’s future expansions. How much is really left? Two I can think of off the top of my head are The Emerald Dream and The Maelstrom. Once those two are implemented (if ever), unless Blizzard thinks of something new, perhaps they should think about booting these bosses from their roosts and putting in new ones with new instances. One thing that annoys me about MMORPGs is how static the world is when you as a player are doing so much around it. There should be some world event where something happens to these old-world dungeons. I say nuke the site from orbit-it’s the only way to be sure.

They should revamp all the old 25-man and 40-man dungeons, tune them to the new WotLK 10/25-man system, and keep them out of the “linear” WotLK raid progression.
Would be fun to see Onyxia get a buff and take her down in a 10-man raid. I hate to see these encounters wasted, even if some are deemed as trivial or outdated by Blizzard.
All we want is content, right? Even used, but updated, content has some value (see WotLK Naxxramas, for example).
<3 Naxx. Can't wait to get back in there.
I agree Starman nuke these old world instances from orbit. Maybe finally bring Starcraft a Sci-Fi mmorpg and use that story to nuke these and run a paralell game people can somehow use to play both with WoW character immersed in WoS as a technologically impaired world. Or maybe just use the big rock from space and make a crater and keep the same old static happening. Either way I feel we need a world event soon also.
QFT!
Well said Starman. This topic still bugs the crap outta me. Why does the old world have to be thrown away for every new expansion? There’s so much cool stuff there… hate to watch it collect dust. Ah well…

Starman, will you play a druid again since they are re-using the tier 3 models.
Last Friday a bunch of us from The Pod People got together and ran Molten Core as part of the guild anniversary. It was the first time I’d been in MC in at least a year, and I’d forgotten what a great instance it is. I always thought the graphics in there were well done. It was also fun because we were all level 70, which led to interesting comments on vent, such as:
- (Raid Leader): Okay, now normally in this boss fight, the tanks would do this, the warlocks would do that, and the healers would…ah, to heck with it. Tanks, go tank him, and everybody else just open up on him.
- (Random guildie during a fight): Hey punk! Remember me? I’m level 70 and I’m back! Come get some! POW!
It was great fun.
Personally, I’m glad that Blizzard continues to use the old world content, such as “Seek the Saboteurs” in BRD as part of Brewfest. I think there’s good content there that can be put to creative use.

I heard about the Pods raid on MC sounded good!
I hope they do something with it all like vamping it up to level 80 raid as has been said here. That way I might actually be able to see it as I never made 60 before TBC and am currently lvl 64.

My guild has an old world instance run every Sunday afternoon. This way as a guild we can experience raids like MC, ZG and even Ony. Its always a fun day.
